The micro business economy faces significant challenges due to the lack of economic stability and local governance, particularly during the COVID pandemic. 90% of businesses are micro-companies with less than 10 employees, and 45% turnover less than £100,000 per year. Economic uncertainty has made it difficult for these businesses to grow, with external buyers being reluctant to commit to significant contracts or long-term contracts. Microbusiness leaders face challenges in survival due to a lack of budget allocation, financial commitment, and innovative solutions, relying heavily on the public sector for capital projects and service delivery.
