While much of the AI community continues to fiercely debate what artificial general intelligence (AGI) actually means, OpenAI and its largest investor, Microsoft, seem to have quietly settled on a definition all along. They reached a consensus in 2023 that they would consider AGI to be achieved if an AI system generates at least $100 billion in profits. To put it simply, AGI is when computers become capable of thinking as well as or better than human beings.
