Engineering-related MSME exporters stated on Tuesday that any action to increase steel import taxes would render domestic goods uncompetitive and affect the nation's outbound shipments from the industry. According to S C Ralhan, chairman of the Hand Tool Association, MSME engineering exporters are already helping with liquidity and rising domestic steel costs. The steel ministry has suggested a 25% safety levy on the import of specific steel products into the nation.
