Google keeps updating its apps and services to optimise them better for large screen devices like foldables and tablets. And, Chrome is the latest one to get that optimisation treatment from Google. 9to5Google has reported that Google has updated Chrome to now default to desktop mode on foldables and tablets. The report says that Gogole has replaced the mobile User-Agent from Chrome that opens the websites in the mobile version by default. Google has replaced the mobile User-Agent with the desktop User-Agent and it will be used with a “viewpoint that matches the window width and not use a default virtual viewport size of 980px.” Google has clarified that mobile websites usually dont take full advantage of the bigger screen and also the device’s capabilities to offer a better experience. Also, the company has mentioned that accessing web pages in desktop mode can offer a better experience compared to mobile sites on tablets and other big screen devices.
