The Delaware Division of Small Business (DSB) is offering the Encouraging Development, Growth and Expansion (EDGE) Program to help small businesses overcome funding barriers. The program provides grants to five STEM-based companies and five Entrepreneur Class (non-STEM) businesses, with the first round of the 2024 EDGE Competition accepting applications on February 1 and closing on March 1. The competition aims to support expenses that improve a company's long-term success and sustainability, such as purchasing equipment, improving building infrastructure, or contracting for website design or marketing campaigns. DSB matches winning businesses' investments 3-to-1, awarding drone companies, silicon solar cell developers, and co-working spaces in Kent County. The EDGE competition, held twice annually, involves 16 finalists pitching grant proposals to expert judges, with 10 winners notified and a public awards ceremony held in subsequent weeks.
