The EC has confirmed that X is not considered a “gatekeeper” under the EU’s landmark Digital Markets Act (DMA). The DMA, which came into force in 2023, sets out strict regulations for major digital platforms deemed to hold significant power over the market. X met the thresholds in terms of user numbers and turnover, but the platform does not play a substantial role in connecting business users with end consumers.
