In 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) achieved notable successes in enhancing opportunities for small businesses. The Department received an "A" grade in the FY 2022 Small Business Procurement Scorecard from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), marking the seventh "A" grade since 2015. A total of $10.7 billion was awarded to small businesses through prime and subcontracting opportunities, a billion-dollar increase from the previous year. The Department increased awards to diverse businesses, with over $2.8 billion allocated to small disadvantaged and women-owned enterprises, surpassing its prime and subcontracting goals. The OSDBU hosted the 2023 DOE Small Business Forum & Expo, attracting 1,200 attendees and securing over $20 million in awards, focusing on American clean energy powered by small businesses.
